First Pumpkin of the Season

For a couple months now, I've been shamelessly promoting all that is fall and hoping others would hop on the bandwagon. Sure, it is still hot temps here in sunny so cal but it is officially fall so I decided it was time for pumpkins. Yes, they will only last a couple weeks if we are lucky but Halloween is a mere six weeks away so I want to savor the season. This afternoon we headed to Vons and allowed the kids to choose their very own sweet, organic pumpkin. They were actually intended for pumpkin pies but they were petite and perfect for little hands, so off to carving we went. With some help from mommy and daddy, our kids happily carved their funny faces into their pumpkins. Just the smell of the pumpkin in the air gave us a new feeling, a new energy. Yes, it's early but have a little fun with  your kids. Discuss their Halloween costumes, decorate for fall and of course, carve a pumpkin. What are you waiting for??
